Description:Anidulafungin is a prescription drug used to treat certain fungal infections caused by the yeast Candida. It belongs to a family of drugs known as echinocandins.Echinocandins inhibit an enzyme called glucan synthase that is present only in fungi. When the enzyme is shut down, an essential part of the fungus's cell wall, 1,3-β-D-glucan, can't be made. The lack of glucan destabilizes the fungal cell wall, which kills the fungus.
